In saner moments everyone knows the vile apartheid regime is doomed but will the transition to democracy be peaceful or bloody? Working for P.W. Botha as a somewhat Machiavellian Head of Intelligence, Dr. Neil Barnard opens furtive talks with imprisoned Nelson Mandela. But lesser known are the secret talks that take place in the unlikely setting of a rural English manor house, arranged by a British businessman and sponsored by a mining company. Both sides have everything to win or to lose, including their own lives. The stakes are immense, the secrecy imperative. El 20 de julio de 1969, hace 40 años, al sur del Mar de la Tranquilidad, Neil Armstrong, en nombre de la humanidad, puso por primera vez su pie en la Luna, cumpliendo así el deseo del presidente de Estados Unidos, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, al hacerlo antes de finalizar la década de los sesenta… ( more)
El 20 de julio de 1969, hace 40 años, al sur del Mar de la Tranquilidad, Neil Armstrong, en nombre de la humanidad, puso por primera vez su pie en la Luna, cumpliendo así el deseo del presidente de Estados Unidos, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, al hacerlo antes de finalizar la década de los sesenta… Tristemente, Kennedy no pudo ver su sueño convertirse en realidad.
Para conmemorar este trascendental acontecimiento, la Radio Nacional de Colombia quiso buscar a dos colombianos que, de alguna manera, hubieran cumplido su propio sueño, asociado con la llegada del hombre a la Luna, la exploración espacial o simplemente su trabajo en torno al espacio.
Estuvimos con César Ocampo, quién se convirtió en ingeniero aeroespacial de la Universidad de Kansas, obtuvo el doctorado en Astrodinámica de la Universidad de Colorado y, actualmente, trabaja como profesor asociado de la Universidad de Texas e investigador en la NASA.
Acompañamos a Cristian Goez, físico y astrónomo barranquillero, quien desde hace 4 años trabaja como pedagogo y asesor de clubes de astronomía en el Planetario Distrital.
Hablamos con ellos de sus trabajos, sus vidas y sus sueños convertidos en realidad…
